Laboratory museum of Terrigoli (Vernio) - Closed

The museum of Terrigoli is currently closed due to move to a different location.
Presentation
The exhibition area gathers artefacts of everyday life concerning the Bisenzio Valley of the past. It shows and explains - through objects and machinery - the various steps of the factory industry that, from the hydraulic mill of the Middle Ages, led to the development of the textile industry between the Nineteenth and Twentieth centuries.
Further on, one encounters the industrial archaeology following a path that reconstructs the different phases of the agropastoral life, the techniques of ancient handicrafts, the plays used by children of old times, etc.
The structure
The characteristic structure of the Museum, composed of four internal rooms and three external exhibition areas, was conceived to allow the carrying out of wide-ranging activities.
Next to the exhibition area, there are also a laboratory and an outdoor classroom that enable schools and groups to share meetings, to produce materials, ideas and objects connected to the historical and ethnographical memory of this distinctive territory.
The entire structure has been carried out and is run by the Centre of Historical and Ethnographical Documentation of Bisenzio Valley (CDSE), whose workers are available to follow educational activities with school classes, or with whoever may wish to visit the Museum during the year. During the summer, the Laboratory Museum houses the Green Weeks organized by the CDSE for the pupils of elementary schools of the Municipalities of Vernio, Cantagallo and Vaiano.
The three Municipalities mentioned above, together with the Consortium of Communes in the Mountain Area of Bisenzio Valley, represent the organizing Bodies of the CDSE. The workers of the Documentation Centre are in charge of the data processing on Internet, enhancing the information given to the public by editing a calendar of activities, new images, etc.
